What is strapping

Packaging strapping, or straps, are long bands made of different materials used in logistics and shipping to close or reinforce boxes, tie different objects together, or fasten goods of any kind onto pallets, with the help of dedicated strapping tools.

The features of strapping

Strapping is used in the most varied situations and with the most varied loads, which is why there are different models and types. As well as coming in both smooth and embossed versions to offer greater grip and therefore better stability of the secured load, it can be divided into three families according to the material it is made of:

Steel strapping

Steel strapping is made of rolled steel band and, given its high strength, is used for very rigid, heavy loads requiring the maximum fastening security.

Plastic strapping

Plastic strapping can be made of PET or PP; it offers medium-to-high strength (in some cases comparable to steel), and in return does not suffer rust or corrosion, which makes it the standard choice for most shipments.

Textile strapping

Textile strapping is made of fibres such as polyester, and is used in cases where it is necessary not only to consider fastening security but also to ensure that the tension of the strapping itself does not deform or damage the particularly delicate loads to which it is applied.
